What is #MUSCLESMATTER?
#MUSCLESMATTER is an online social media campaign fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy. People around the world can post images to social media and show their support by making donations to MD charities.
Together we aim to rally the global community and direct donations through our partner charities to raise much needed funds for medical research, therapies, care and support for people and families living with Muscular Dystrophy.
Our ultimate goal is finding a cure for the most common and severe form of MD, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
How does it work?
Anyone can join the fight! Flex a muscle for Muscular Dystrophy. People who wish to participate in the #MUSCLESMATTER campaign can post a photo or discussion to social media about muscles and why they are essential to everyday life. To see some examples check out our Instagram feed below! Participants can then make a donation of any size to our charities through musclesmatter.org or another charity website. You can email us below to include any donations through other charities and have them included in the campaign goal.
The official campaign steps are below!
STEP 1 - Make a donation to a musclesmatter.org charity
STEP 2 - Post your muscle related photo or discussion to social media, include #MUSCLESMATTER or #MM. Instagram, Facebook, etc.
STEP 3 - Share and call your friends to action!
Why Social Media?
Social media allows billions of people to connect, create and share online through websites and applications. It is the perfect platform to share an initiative such as #MUSCLESMATTER that can change the lives of many people affected by Muscular Dystrophy. Portals such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and more allow people to post an image or discussion about muscles and why they are so very important. The #MUSCLESMATTER campaign is open to anyone who wants to make a difference to people suffering from MD. Not only do we want to raise funds for MD but get the world talking and governments everywhere. There are so many people out there who need help and if it takes one campaign at a time, then that is what we will do.
